Cheap Vape, Expensive Pods
Jumping straight into the cost segment of this review, it’s worth noting that the Juul device doesn’t work on its own. No, that would be too good. Instead, it works in conjunction with Juul’s pods, which come prefilled with e-juice and are not designed to be refilled. So while the vape itself is relatively inexpensive, the pods actually increase the cost of using it by quite a bit. The reality is that the pods, unlike the battery, aren’t cheap, but rather fairly expensive given how little e-liquid they contain and how much they cost. This is the one major drawback to vaping with Juul, but if you can get past the high cost of pods and the limited flavors that they come in, well then you’re going to be in good shape because there’s little else to fret about when it comes to vaping with Juul.
Could Not Be Easier To Use
While some vapes need to have their coils changed, Juuls do not. Actually, that’s not entirely true. The reality is that the coils are contained within the pods themselves and as the pods are replaced once the e-liquid in them is depleted, the coils are changed in the process. Changing the pod is as easy as pulling it out and popping a new one into place. This whole process takes 2-3 seconds at most and requires no special tools. With your thumb and index finger gripping the sides of the pod, you simply slide it out. Push a new one into place and you’ll hear it click and see the indicator light quickly flash white, letting you know that the pod is firmly in place and ready for use.
Recharging the Juul is mad easy. It comes with a USB charging stand that holds the battery magnetically in place. You drop it into the stand, it snaps into place, and the indicator light begins to pulse white, letting you know that it’s charging.
Usage could not be any easier. There’s no button to press, you just put it up to your mouth and start hitting it. Like magic, it detects that it’s in use and activates the heating element to begin producing vapor. Best of all, it’s instant. There’s no wait time whatsoever. From the moment you start puffing on it, it immediately begins delivering vapor. When you’re done, well, it knows that as well. So there’s no turning it off, no turning it on, and no fiddling with nonexistent buttons. You just use it. Couldn’t be simpler.
Rips Like A Champ
You might not expect it given its small size, but Juuls rip hard. You’re not going to get massive clouds, but given the amount of nicotine that the pods contain, you probably don’t want that anyways. It produces more than enough vapor to choke you up, which is why you’ll likely find it preferable to take short puffs while using a mouth-to-lung (MTL) technique, as opposed to a direct-to-lung (DTL) technique. Meaning: you’ll want to draw the vapor into your mouth and then into your lungs.
Thanks to the quality of the e-liquid Juul uses in its pods, the vapor is fairly smooth and tasty. If you want some bite, go with the menthol or mint. If you’re just looking for something tasty, you might try some of the other flavors instead.
Battery Life Could Be Improved
Taking into account how small Juul vape batteries are, it’s actually quite surprising how long they last between charges. Unfortunately, if you’re a heavy vaper, they may very well fall short of making it through the day without recharging. On the upside, they’re small enough that you can easily carry a spare in your pocket. Alternatively, you can carry the charger around with you if you happen to have access to a USB port you can plug it into. And if that’s not good enough, there’s always the Portable Charging Case, which allows you to fully recharge the battery up to three times while you’re on the move.
A Smoker’s Dream
For me, a former smoker who switched to vaping with the help of Juul, I can attest to the fact that Juuls deliver enough nicotine, enough throat hit, and are easy enough to use that they’re more than viable options for smokers who are looking to quit smoking with the help of vaping.
