In-Depth Elf Bar 5000 Review
For the sake of this review, I personally purchased multiple Elf Bars in a variety of different flavours and thoroughly tested them. In order to fully understand and appreciate the differences between the old model, the normal BC5000, and the new model, the BC5000 Ultra, I made sure to purchase both versions and put them to the test. The results of my testing can be found in my in-depth review and analysis below.
First Impression
The construction is quite solid. At a glance, they looked a little cheap but as soon as I took one out of its packaging and held it my concern faded. They feel well-made. A quick peek underneath the device revealed a USB-C charging port, which suddenly had me wondering whether they’re designed to be refilled.
Can you refill an Elf Bar BC5000? No. These are disposable vapes and as such, they are not designed to be refilled. However, due to the large amount of e-liquid that they’re filled with (13ml), their 650mAh battery actually runs out of charge before the vape juice is anywhere near depleted. This is why there’s a Type-C charging port on the bottom of the device. Realistically, you’ll end up charging it a few times before the e-juice inside runs out. On the upside, the battery lasts for about a day with typical use and recharges in around an hour. You can use any USB-C charging cable to charge it.
Before taking any puffs, I took a sniff of the different flavours that I’d purchased and I was extremely pleased with how they smelled. Well, not all of them, but almost all of them. There was one in particular that I found to be a bit underwhelming, especially in comparison to the others. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the different flavors that are available.
The Best Elf Bar Flavors
Before I jump into the very long list of flavors that Elf Bars are available in, which you can find further down in this review, I want to highlight a few that I found to be particularly good and one that I was not entirely impressed with.
My favorite flavor is undoubtedly Kiwi Dragon Fruit Berry. It’s a perfect medley of fruit flavors that’s simply overflowing with flavor. It’s luscious, sweet, and strong but not overly so. Each puff tastes like a treat. This particular flavor is only available when you purchase a BC5000 Ultra. Personally, I find the fruity flavors to be the most appealing, however, you may very well have your own preference when it comes to vape juice flavors so don’t be afraid to try the other flavors if you think that there are others that might suit you better.

Of the different flavors that I had the pleasure of testing, the only one I’m not particularly fond of is Miami Mint. This was a bit of a shocker on my end as I tend to gravitate towards mint e-juices. This one, however, just didn’t strike a cord with me. It was a bit flat and underwhelming, which is surprising given how flavorful the other options that I tried proved to be. Regardless, with well over 50 flavors to choose from, I’m confident that you will find more than a few that you thoroughly enjoy.
Exceptional Vape Juice, Enjoyable Vapor
The e-liquid that Elf Bars use is undoubtedly high-quality. The nic salts allow for a smooth inhale and the flavorings are quite clearly of the premium variety. While all of the flavors are generally good, the fruity ones in particular are really quite outstanding. The only way I can think to describe them is dripped in flavor. These are not subtle juices. The flavors really pop when they hit you. I definitely recommend giving them a try for yourself.
At 5% nicotine strength (50mg), you might assume that the vapor is on the harsher side. Surprisingly, that’s not the case. The vapor is smooth, which is somewhat common with nic salt juice. One of the main benefits of using nicotine salts is their smoothness. Unlike freebase nic, you can vape at strengths as high as 50mg/ml without the vapor becoming too harsh to comfortably enjoy. It’s strong, yet subtle. That is, unless you opt for an iced flavor, of which there are quite a few to choose from. The iced flavors like Watermelon Ice pack a bit more punch thanks to the menthol that’s infused in them so if you’re looking for a stronger throat hit then I suggest going with one of the many ice flavors that are available.
Why It’s Rechargeable
A disposable vape with a rechargeable battery might seem like an oxymoron but there’s a very good reason why the BC5000, despite being a disposable vape, uses a rechargeable battery. With a 13ml e-liquid reservoir that’s prefilled with vape juice and a compact 650mAh battery to power it, it’s a given that the battery lacks enough charge to power through all of the e-juice that’s inside the vape. In order to vape through that much juice you’re going to need to recharge the battery a few times.
It takes about an hour to recharge so there is some downtime, or rather there would be some downtime were it not for the pass-thru charging feature. With pass-thru charging, you can actually use the vape while it’s recharging. It’s an awesome little feature that lets you continue vaping without interruptions.
There’s no Elf Bar Charger. That might sound like a bad thing and reason for a poor review, but it’s not. Charging the device is extremely easy thanks to its USB-C port. You can literally use any functional USB-C cord to charge the battery. This means you don’t have to rely on the manufacturer to supply you with a charging cord, as you can simply use any Type-C cable to charge it. If you happen to have one already, perfect. If not, you can order one on Amazon or buy one from your local office supply store. They’re fairly inexpensive and easily accessible so you shouldn’t have any issues acquiring one if you don’t already happen to have one.
How Long Do Elf Bars Last?
If you’re a heavy vaper like I sometimes am, this little vape’s 650mAh battery probably won’t last you an entire day without being recharged. However, the 5000 puffs that it offers will definitely last you more than a day. In fact, it’s likely enough e-juice to last you multiple days, if not longer.
For typical users (moderate/average vapers), the battery will probably last roughly the entire day. It may need a recharge near the end of the day, but the pass-thru charging makes that somewhat of a nonissue.
Being an extremely compact disposable vape has its advantages and one of those advantages is that you can easily carry two of them in a single pocket. Personally, I always tend to carry a spare, either in my vehicle or in my pocket. That way, I’m never without vapor when I want it. With Elf Bars, it’s that much easier to carry a spare.
