A pro-vaping group known as We Vape We Vote, whose aim is to amplify the voices of vapers by bringing them together at the polls while sharing the message that vaping saves lives, stopped in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in October to convey its message at Iconic Vapors, a local vape shop.

United States Senator Ron Johnson appeared at the event and offered a statement supporting the movement.

“We all know it’s a highly addictive substance, and some people just simply can’t kick the habit of cigarettes without having an alternative like vaping, so to me, this is all about that individual choice, that freedom of an adult being able to kick a very dangerous habit and go into something that is far less dangerous,” Senator Johnson was quoted by WEAU 13 News as having said at the event.

Across the pond in the United Kingdom, the government continues to work towards the goal of promoting vaping to smokers in a bid to help them switch to e-cigarettes, which various studies have shown to be less harmful than smoking.

In New Zealand, the Ministry of Health now promotes the same message to smokers.

Despite the backing of some major western governments, vaping continues to come under assault in the United States where regulators have continually pushed for increased restrictions on vaping products. Senator Johnson, on the contrary, has come out in support of the freedom for smokers to choose to vape instead of smoke.
