Does Batman vape? The Caped Crusader might not himself be a vaper but behind-the-scenes bonus footage for the HBO Max release of The Batman shows that actor Robert Pattinson, who played The Dark Knight in the 2022 film, hid a vape pen in a pouch on his costume’s utility belt.
As CBR.com’s Brad Lang wrote, it’s unclear whether the vaping device tucked into the utility belt of Pattinson’s Batman costume was regularly placed there throughout the filming of the movie.
The device appears to be a Juul brand vaping device, which is a particularly popular brand of e-cigarette in the United States. In 2020, the company behind the device, Juul Labs, held 42% of the US e-cigarette market, making it the country’s leading e-cigarette brand. At its prior peak, the company controlled more than 75% of the US market for e-cigarettes, dominating competitors like Vuse.
Juul reported an 11% decline in sales in 2021, bringing in $1.3 billion in revenue throughout the year, which resulted in a $259 million net loss. Regardless, the company maintains a strong grip on the US e-cigarette market with PBS reporting that the company still accounts for almost 50% of the US e-cig market.
In the behind-the-scenes footage in which Pattinson can be seen with a vape on his person, the scene in which the vape is spotted shows a member of the film crew adjusting his superhero suit and removing the vape from a pouch on his belt before reinserting it into the belt right before the camera cuts to the film’s director, Matt Reeves.
The film is streaming on HBO Max. For those who want to see Batman’s vape for themselves, the footage can be found in the film’s bonus content.
In other news, Vaper Empire has released a new vape pen with a refillable tank, variable wattage, adjustable airflow, a dual-coil atomizer, and a rechargeable 1300 mAh battery.
